The screen is very slightly better than the S3 and One X in terms of DPI (312 vs 326) but its also 0.7" smaller.
I expect the lightness in weight is impressive technically but is 18g lighter than a One X impressive considering the smaller form factor? Similarly, 1.0mm thinner than the S3?
It is nice to see Apple still making quality items but I was hoping that they would improve on the current generation of phones, and pending excellent battery life or exceptional performance (Id be surprised if the A6 outperforms the S4 snapdragon) there's nothing new to see here.
Maybe we have spoilt in the past with revolutionary improvements but in my mind that was what helped justify the price tags. When its the same tech as current 'free on contract' phones it doesn't drive market innovation or justify its sky high prices.
What revolutionary improvements?
The first iPhone failed to have even ancient 3G tech in it.
The next only brought it up to 3G standards when phones were already up on 3.5G tech
The 3rd brought a subtle upgrade in processor and most of the upgrades were software based which the jailbreak community had already ported to earlier models. Bring capabilities to the iPhone that every other phone already had back years ago "holy sh*t I can record video!"
The 4th brought Siri... Another software upgrade that only worked with network connectivity. My O2 XDA had voice command on windows mobile 5... Years later apple still haven't got it working properly.
The 5th brings us the A6 processor to offer similar performance to phones that were released 6 months ago, and a slightly larger (but still smaller than the competition) screen.
Yeah... Revolutionary. The real Che Guevara of the phone world. Well I suppose fanboi hipsters everywhere are indeed emblazoned with the apple logo, at least that's one thing it shares with the Che.
Facts in the above are quite wrong
Really? I'm still yet to be corrected.
It's an iPhone. It's in one form factor, it's behind the curve for cutting edge because apple always is and it looks pretty.
Me I own an iPad because I do indeed think apple have cornered the market for tablet devices the ipad3 is done very well indeed.
You can say many things about apple products but there is absolutely diddly squat revolutionary about their iPhone line of products.
It's all been done before, just apple shove it in a very well presented package and market it to the masses.
Missing versions, missing big features, missing features, wrong features....
I get your point and just with any phone all can be labelled as iterations, true but no point just posting things that are not actually right to make the point. Just say it.
I also hate people that feel Apple is revolutionary, I like their products but I do not think this. Why is every company out there trying to emulate them in lots of ways?
Because they go about the production of something or create the features in the ways that work, they screw customers over like other companies but they do things to push technology forward in a lot of ways.
Why I am sad to see them just sue and hounder other companies who are also trying to push, bad for tech overall recent events have been
But still
The apple approach to a lot of things is something to admire and emulate (which companies do). Razer is a PC based company who is ever increasing adopting the same policies. Their products cost more then others but they are dam dam dam nice! I want their new keyboard and mouse for example!
