I think there was "F-18 Interceptor" or something which was 3D, wireframe. I think there were only half a dozen levels, if that, but it was great as you could fly under the golden gate bridge and (try to) land on an aircraft carrier.

I remember my dad got some kind of spy game which as an anti-piracy device required a paper decoder ring to be used to figure out a password very very early on in the game, which was quite cool.

I remember this. I could never get past the search and rescue mission as I couldnt ever figure out how to drop the rescue pod.

F-18 was great  I played that a lot. The wireframe graphics were cool at the time :)

Was the spy game Operation Stealth by any chance? It didnt have a decoder ring as such but had a picture that was split into hundreds of sections all a different colour - the game would ask you which colour a specific section was and you had to answer to play the game past a certain point. Game was a point and click adventure and very very good. Only problem was if you didnt pick up certain items you would eventually get captured and without the correct tools you couldnt escape so effecively you had to just stop playing - you didnt die and there was noway to go back unless you had a saved game. Was very annoying!!

Career, Wife, Mortgage... my sig was better when it listed guitars and PC's and stuff!

Hmm, was it F18 that had the decoder ring then? Something did, it was blue and was kind of like a slide-rule?

And who can forget Barbarian :D

Best version of turrican - C64

Too many good games to list on C64 and Spectrum tbh.

Barbarian was more spectrum/C64 for me - incredible game though especially when you lobbed the head off your opponent!

Turrican was legendary and the C64 version was best by far. Not really sure why but the gameplay just seemed better.

I still have my C64 - its the only one of my old computers/consoles Ive kept hold off. Just cant bear to part with it. Really tempted to set it up again now and start going through my old games. Ive got them all emulated but its not the same :)

I have a massive collection of old machines.

Went mad on ebay a few years ago when they were going for under £5

I have pilfered the SID from one of the Mk1 C64s for my SIDStation though!

I used to have a ridiculous collection when I worked at Gamestation. I used to just buy anything cool/rare that got traded in. In the end though I had no room and too much debt so sold it all back.

Didnt the SID stations come with the chip? I thought it was the availability of the chips that limited supply of the machines? Or did you want the earlier sid from the Mk1?

Getting the bug nwo with all this chatter. Might have to get myself a floppy drive and a commodore monitor for my C64 and start playing again. Might actually start reviewing old C64 games

Ditto on Robocod.

What about Sleepwalker? Lost many a weekend to that.

A few more I can think of : Zool 1&2, Superfrog, Xenon 2, SWOS 96/97, Another World, Flashback etc.

I had possibly the most impressive collection of pirated Amiga games in the world, I once counted over 700 disks. Shame I was too young to really appreciate what I had.

£50 for the Amiga 500 (with expansion board), and all those games, cant believe my dad gave it away when I got my first PC. :(

Fair play he deserves a good kick in the nuts for that :)

SOunds like a good collection. I paid £150 for my secodn hand 500+ with 1MB RAM and ---- the A570 CDTV expansion which was about £400 at the time. I dont think the old fella selling it new what it was! I still seem to recall my dad getting another tenner off for cash  :)
