Somethings just made me think back to the old Commodore Amiga, and the games we had for it.

I was pretty young and generally didnt have a clue what you were meant to do in most of the games.

We had one, or it might have been a demo, which was a typical "planet defence" type of game, where you had a gun turret or something and had to defend a mining colony from some invaders.

The distinctive bits I can remember was that it was 1st person perspective, and you could either rotate left/right, or move sideways left/right (one or the other, I cant remember if you went into a loop if you kept going one way, dont think so...). Other things was that the invaders were in the form of tripods that landed in the distance as what I used to think were hockey pucks, hitting the ground and then assembling into the tripods which would slowly walk towards you, destroying buildings in the process. Occasionally theyd shoot some big ball or something that would hit you and I think it was then game over.

Very abstract description, hopefully someone knows what Im talking about. For some reason I thought it began with a T, but the list of Amiga games on wikipedia doesnt have anything under T that rings a bell. I keep thinking that the tripod invader things were either "Terrans" or even "Tyranids" even though I know the latter is a Games Workshop alien race :/

dulux galag was about a million times better than all of those !

Deluxe Galaga was awesome - Battle Squadron was better in my opinion though, and Xenon 2 was considered by many to be the best of the genre.

Kind of like a first person shooter, but in vehicles. Played in an arena on different planets.

I vaguely remember the vehicles being 3D boxes rather than any form of solid textures.

Xenon 2 rocked by the way.
