I honestly think that the ending could be as ridiculous as them pleading for more life being up to us ie the viewer or some other outrageously rubbish idea. I really hope it isnt :whoops:

I do think that they are going to struggle to wrap this up in 22 minutes, it feels like it has barely got started :|

I agree with TheMallrat about DJJ getting his groove back as the cat 8-)

I guess also, has any extra-terrestrial based sci fi series, ever pulled off the old "back to earth" story arc.

I mean, star trek, the original BSG, and even DR who were pretty weak on earth I felt.

Original battlestar galatica

"Galactica 1980" as it was known after they found Earth was awful and lost almost everything that made the first series so special.

Some of the stuff I have been reading about peoples opinions baffles me, already reviewing it and writing the lot off as crap after one 22 minute episode, give me a break!

You know the funny thing about opinions, how everyones entitled to a different one based on their own tastes?

Yeah of course, I appreciate that but condeming the entire 3 episodes on the value of the first is a bit much surely!?

I see your point and would agree if it was a full series however its only three episodes, if you havent laughed in the first third of the entire thing as I didnt then its really not shaping up well.

Here is a question.
If they get a new series and they use sets and an audience and have a bit more time to develop a script would it work?

Yeah the laughing is what i noticed first they had no laugh track, i think the show has always had it and without it, its like this.... psychologically weve always had the laughing and without it the jokes must not be as funny.

Quick google search to see if red dwarf is acted infront of an audience which i never thought because the laughing was to repeatively the same....

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=red+dwarf+laugh+track

Think im going to have to download the second part missed it....

One whole scene in pt2 was directly lifted from Bladerunner.

Having just watched both parts back to back, I can say Im firmly in the not as bad as everyone is making out camp, and I dont need audience laughter as a queue (why people still think its canned I dont know...)

In my opinion the green screen doesnt do any favours as the show always worked better off props. I think they all act better off the props too and maybe thats the let down. I certainly dont feel their individual performances themselves are bad, but script definitely needed a bigger injection of FUNNEH in the first two parts, as while there were a few chuckle moments there isnt enough great gags coming out. It was never going to be up to par with the best seasons, but its missing something from that Dwarf factor still. Maybe the third will provide, but I doubt it. Ill still enjoy it for what its worth.

Maybe they arent that bad, but theyre on par with most of the stuff coming out now, and people are just getting tired of things that were really really good, coming back and only being good. And so complain all the more louder?

Dunno why I said canned laughter earlier, I think I read it somewhere else and assumed, then remembered when someone pointed it out that its not that you can hear them laughing in the smeg ups/out oops  then it has been a while since the last series  8-)

I dont quite know why the scene was lifted (its the one with the nose maker working in the cold lab) but there seems to be a lot of nods and mentions of Bladerunner throughout, perhaps Naylor or the writers/cast are big fans?

The final part was much much better, still not upto old standards but it was a good way to finish it off.

Yet more blatant bladerunner nods and a nice bit of dwarfist slapstic.

It should either have been longer or have been a few short episodes. The 3 20+ episodes were nowhere near as satisfying as it should have been.
