Stargate SG-1.
on: February 28, 2008, 23:51:31 PM
So, I just finished watching all 10 seasons of Stargate SG-1.

Watched a few episodes years ago on the TV, but watching them all back to back I really appreciate the series. Brilliant story lines, great characters that never get boring, and a fun element that so many sc-fi programmes try to do, but fail miserably at.

The 9th & 10th seasons were obviously a large departure from the previous due to the cast changes, but after about 6 episodes they really pulled it together. Overall I was very impressed, so much so I will spend the next week burning all 70gig to DVD  :gag:

Honourable mention goes to Season 10, Episode 6 200. Pure brilliance - they brought back most of the old cast that had left, but in a very clever way. Combined with taking the piss out of some of the most popular sci-fi series going, and being jam-packed with in-jokes, I thought it was superb.

Nearly got the first 3 seasons of Atlantis downloaded, so Ill be watching that soon. If anyone is looking for a decent sci-fi series, and hasnt seen Stargate SG-1 before, I definately recommend it. :ptu:

200 is shear genius.  If you werent awere Ben Browder and Claudi Black were in Farscape so they are taking the piss out of their old show also.  Its open season on jokes.

Series 9 really had a slow start.  They were having to bring new characters and a new major plot line into the fold.  It took a while but it got there and what it built up to was worth it.

Youll enjoy atlantis.  Series 3 has been very well written.

near the end of season 4 atlantis starts to go downhill a bit.... hopefully theyll pull it back with season 5....

was wondering if the wrighters strike was effecting them or something.... the story line / plot just went out the window, jumping back and forth between one ep. and the next...   like a load of left over eps. stuck together :o

EDIT: Im rubish with actors names so had to google "Amanda Tapping" to see if she was who I thought you ment.... and OMG there are some star gate  GEEKS out there... worse than the bloody treckies !

I enjoyed SG1 and still watching Atlantis (fallen behind a few episodes). Last episode of 10 really annoyed me tho... TELL US WHAT HAPPENED! not some random story!

Now have to wait for the films

Yeah Atlantis has really started to piss me off too.

Decide on a story line and stick to it. Stop with all this jumping from one to another and then no storyline at all episodes :/

I must admit I could never get into Stargate SG-1 and Ive tried umpteen times. When I used to live at home the whole family loved it so Id dutifully try and enjoy it but could never really see the attraction, and once they introduced the "Asgard" as those skinny grey aliens it all got a tad too daft and I gave up trying. I do hear good things about Stargate Atlantis though but Ive not been able to view them as of yet, are they any different to SG-1?

I love both stargate and atlantis, ages ago when I was a doley scum bag I watched 6 seasons (about 110 episodes) in something like 10 days, I had stargate on the brain lol.

Atlantis does have its problems but its the same with all scifi tv series it seems the blow the budget on some really cool space battles then we get a few episodes of boring episodes.  Bring on the end of the series, should be good....

Yeh great series but when they announced the end I was kind of glad as the show had really started to depart from what it was originally to the extent that they hardly ever used the "Stargate" any more and the whole exploration side of the show was used mainly as a side story rather than the main focus as it was in the earlier series.

For me series 1-7 were probably the best years of the show series 8 to 10 were still enjoyable but by then the show had lost its spark and of course RDA.

Any way I’m looking forward to the two straight to DVD releases which will be tying up the Ori story arc.
