Almost anyone else and I wouldnt watch. Saddam is special, though, TBH, he deserves a lot worse than just hanging.

So it seems weve introduced western democracy into Iraq, but we cant introduce common decent human treatment (regardless of what he may have done in the past).

Or, to put it in context, weve pilloried members of the US and UK armed forces for treating Iraqi prisoners inhumanely (by pretending they were going to torture them or laughing at the state of their willies), but weve nothing to say about the same people wanting to commit institutional murder? That is a double standard.

Execution is fairly quick and painless by hanging. I have no human rights issues with it. All the countries in the region allow for capital punishment, and theres no chance thatll change for the forseeable future. Better hung properly than suffer on a gourney with a botched medical type execution. Heck, if you make the rope long enough, itll lop his head off.

Then theres hanging a criminal that was convicted on circumstantial evidence, where there is doubt. That puts ice in the belly. Crimes against humanity? Hang em. Have it done with. Its certainly kinder than having somebody suffer the indignity of a cage for the rest of their lives. A tyrant is different from a common criminal, theyve lost their own humanity through actions of their own. I could watch them take off his head with a dull adze and it wouldnt faze me.

Is it the best choice for peace in Iraq? Not at all, but as much as we want to sip tea in our little discussion salon, theres no changing the verdict.

Not really bothered personally.  Not going to go out of my way to see it.

Sorta like a game show, wonder if they have that 3 times rule over there. Survive an execution 3 times and youll be let off. :D

So... start building up those neck muscles Mr Hussain. :D

Theres a bit of science behind it; in ye olde days the length of drop had to be long enough to break the guys neck, otherwise hed choke to death, but not too long or his head would snap off.. It all depended on how much the prisoner weighs. In England they left the prisoner hanging for an hour, Ive heard/read that it could take like 20minutes between the trapdoor opening and the final heartbeat to be detected. afaik the prisoners were buried in unmarked graves within the walls of the prisons. Some prisoners cut up their necks to try to avoid being hanged, apparently it rarely worked.

America hd different ways of doing it, and different ways of doing civilian and military hangings.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Surprisingly there have been people who survived all three attempts at hanging them.
