rofl naaahhh... much like the bit inside me that makes me chant "roll the police van" to the kids who are bundled up inside after a night on the grape juice, I want to see someone survive an execution.

Kinda like a "stick it to da man" complex

Im suprised he wasnt tbh. It seems to be standard US marine tactics to throw a grenade into a hole/door/window before checking what is on the other side.

its a bit macabre a public hanging isnt it, even when hes dying hes making a show of it
woulda been easier to face a firing squad with no1 watching

If anyone deserves the death penalty Saddam is near the top of the list, but I have a feeling that a lot of violence will break out as a result of this. If he is to be hung, they should do it without making it a major media event and only tell the world about it well after it has been done.

Televising it is just glorifying death. It will create more publicity, more controversy and more ammunition for his supporters. Do him in in private and be done with it I say.

not that Im too bothered - it is sadam - but it is a complete myth that it is fairly quick or painless

similar myths are common about the lethal injection too

I dont think the death penalty is a good solution in any cases really - definately not as far as general crime is concerned - I guess this is one of the few exceptions - but Im still not particularly comfortable about it.

In the case of lethal injection they put normally the person out by using anaesthetic before they kill.

For Saddam hanging was too good.
