It does feel like youre stretching things slightly here, in those 9-4 or 9-5 days youre talking about are you actually working consistently or is there lots of coffee drinking/chatting? (Not that theres anything wrong with that, hey, its a big part of what being a student is).
I did a reasonably intense degree course by average standards, and I only ever had full mornings of lectures, and maybe max 2 hours of teaching time in the afternoon.
My feeling is that if youre actually working that hard every day, without a lot of breaks, youre going about your work in the wrong way somehow, and need to look at some way of working a bit smarter.
As with lots of folks on here, Ive done my degree now and am out in the real world, and certainly in terms of the hours I put, work is more demanding, in terms of the time I have to be at my mental best though, work is generally an easier ride. Swings and roundabouts tbh, and the nice thing is Im enjoying my job, so the extra hours dont really worry me. Do miss the second year of spending most nights in the bar though
