Teeth! Cosmetic

Anyone had any major dental work for cosmetic reasons? Just wondering the UK prices, especially interested
if anyone has (or know anyone) gone abroad.

My local dentist charges £2k minimum for an Implant.

A dentist in Hungary has quoted me £1200-£1600 at the most (depending if I need a bone graft - which is £400)
for the implant & some other work.

A friend of my sister went to Poland for a week last year she had 2 implants, 3 veneers and some other work done. She wouldn’t tell my sis the exact price, so guess it still wasn’t exactly cheap but it cost well under ½ what she was quoted here and that included travel and accommodation.

Our Dentists need a good slap IMO! I really wish Polish ones would follow the example of there builders and plumbers!

Egg, please keep me (us) updated on this.

Ive been on the NHS waiting list at Guy Hospital for implants since I was 8. 23 years later theyve still done nothing with my mouth :(

I have 6 milk teeth and 4 gaps where no adult teeth ever grew ! If the costing is reasonable I might just sort it out myself.

Okies, Im a dental nurse so just MAYBE I can help with this question lol.

Atm the avg price for one implant in the UK is approx £2k, the more you have the cheaper it becomes as there isnt as much work involved, less surgery sterilisation etc.

You can go to such as Bulgaria, Romania, etc and get them done loads cheaper but if you have any probs finding an english dentist to touch your implants is quite a prob as they tend to only like dealing with their own!

If you have anymore questions you want answering feel free to ask or IM me....

my full quote for a "hollywood smile" was £6k  - thats 1 inplant, 2 inlays, 1 bridge & 16 zirconium crowns.

Is that good?

Ok this is prob gonna confuse you a bit now....

Where are the inlays and what kind of material?

How big is the bridge? How many teeth and are they using one with a wing(s) or abutments? Where is it? And what material? Porcelain or Metallic?

And Zirconium crowns? On ALL your teeth? Im sure you would be better with Veneers as this does MUCH LESS damage to your actual teeth, unless youve got serious probs dont have crowns, it can kill your teeth, then youll need more implants - a lot of private dentists only think in this way, they think if you can afford to have it done in the first place you can when your teeth basically die!

Just to clear up.. this is worst case scenario... he hasnt poked around, but i wanted a ball park figure.

Inlays are empress - I asked for 2x old fillings to be replaced to white, but he thinks an inlay may be better.

The bridge is just for a gap, I guess it will be wings, but not totally sure.

I asked for Veneers on the bottom & Crowns on the top (I basically took a cricket ball in the face & my bite has never been the same, lost 1, chipped 2 & 1 twisted!) veneers on the bottom -
nothing wrong with bottom physically, just a little cosmetically - prob wouldnt need veneers, but a brace or an invisalign - but cant be bothered with the hassle... venners/crown seemed the quicker solution, just the
in for a penny in for the pound idea of doing whatever in the two hits (some now & some when I have to go back when the implant has healed)

I have heard
of the crown problems in the past, which is why I didnt mention it earlier.

How much for a bit of whitening?

Years of fags and coffee are taking their toll :(

From what youve said it sounds about a fair price, I would be very careful with veneers on lower teeth though as they can "ping" off quite a lot if you have a strong bite, theyll be ok and you can get them recemented maybe once or twice but after that theyll weaken and crack or chip around the edges and then your back to square one, its usually crowns on lower, veneers on upper as a rule!
