Toys

Time to get all sentimental.

What were your favourite toys way back when you were a kid?

Lets forget about the staple Lego/action man stuff. Im curious what else people had.

This line of thought stems from driving back from Uni and seeing a heavy duty green bin bag on the side of the road. It reminded me of a line of toys which were moulded rubber monsters (like monster in your pocket) except they came blind boxed in small green bags, themed to be toxic waste monsters. You put them in water and the bag dissolved into a fizzy green mess and you got the monster out of it.

Other than that I did like my Boglins, similar kind of thing. I guess I liked the early Vinyl thing before it became fashionable!

I think I also liked any kind of action figure that "did something". Be it shoot a gun, change colour with heat/water, or have a zip line. I remember really loving a batman figure that had a cool zipline, which of course wasnt that long so I ended up making a massive one.

I also used to like bungee jumping them out my bedroom window by tying them to a chain of rubber bands. Many a sunday afternoon my parents would be washing up and a Teenage Mutant Turtle would fall past the window before rocketing back up :D

I never "got" scalextrics. It just seemed pretty boring going round and round!

Those Hot wheels play sets were cool though. I remember many a track that had a jump that went over a bucket of water.

Heh, I also remember making little sailing boats out of those polystyrene flat-pack airoplanes you could get. Was a great way of getting more use out of them when a wing inevitably broke. Just cut a base out, make a slot, and whack another bit in as the sail :D

Transformers and Lego by and large made up most of my toys. I also had plenty of Star Wars toys along with something called Manta Force and some StarCom. (Bit of a theme there!)

I had some knock-off transformers that turned into rocks, anyone had those?

Boglins!

Flying Saucer Thing

vs

Space Horse Thing

^ Most unappreciated toys ever?

Had lego, scalextric, railway sets, 100s of Matchbox cars, marbles, elastic band planes and other stuff. Guns. You cant get toy guns anymore. Or those little paper things that go bang when you throw them.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

I had Action man, He-man, Turtles my parents queued for hours for (got all of them) , LEGO (you can not beat lego!) , BUT the big stuff and lots of what we had was GI-Joe.
All the guys you could get, all the cool planes, tanks and stuff you could get, the size of them, all the bits that came out or shot out, landing gear, jet engines with moving bits.... Was soo cool. A lot would fail todays health and safety bullcrap.

Spectrum pursuit vehicles, had a pair of them. LEGO, trainset.

Go back early enough and it was a wood multi-story garage made by my dad, even further back a wood ride on train engine, made by same, and teddy.

When I was young you didnt buy a toy gun, you made it from a piece of wood.
