zpyder, can you try re-downloading minecraft and then trying to connect ?  (run it from a different folder so it doesnt mess with your maps etc..)

theres a suggestion its because the server Im running is the newest version, and the client is older :o
(pre/post free game time)

Holy moly that works!

I thought I was trying that before once or twice but it just crashed me browser. Maybe I didnt have the URL just right!

EDIT:

The client still doesnt work though.

Also, Ive tried making some stuff quickly and refreshing it to see if it stays, and it doesnt. I get the impression that its basically emulating single player or something. However even if I choose to save the world, when I refresh I cant load it up :(

Could be me rushing around doing stuff rather than reading the (nonexistant) instructions. I *should* be *working*...

To be honest if you can get the server hosted 24/7 and working properly, Ill buy you an account ;) PM sent for now to ensure its not just me.

(Ill regret those words Im sure)

Seeing as Ive bought it at half price on alpha, buying it again is like getting 2 games for the price of 1, or something...

I wonder if the link was ignoring the IP address stuff and just loading up in the browser as single player for me.

tested, logging in with your username/password I get the same took too long to login message that you get :-(

Ive googled my ass off, but cant find a fix... Ive re-downloaded the server twice already :(

I dont mind paying for it.... if I can get the server to work.... I dont know what could be wrong with it ?

FIXED, WORKING, DONE !!!!

78.105.191.184

Ive got dns setup at work already, so will have a proper url once I take it to work ;)

(might as well leave it here for a few days first)

(p.s. it lagged a bit for me, and thats over lan, but thats apparently normal, you have to turn the render distance down a bit)

OMFGWTFBBQ!

Have my babies!

Damnit, now Im stuck having to work from home with the client just sitting there saying "play me".

Feel free to use the account till this evening, I might have just auto logged you out by logging in to test it myself lol.

Might be worth resetting the world a few times till the terrain looks decent/cool without being too fragmented or boring?

Ive given you op status (not sure what it does)

not sure how, but I can give you admin status so you can change maps etc. yourself too :-)

Excellent

To be honest the world doesnt look too shabby. Spawn point is on a small outcrop of sand and earth in the sea, theres a hill I can see in the distance...as far as a safe start point this could do though its a trek to the hill/land. I guess further discussion could move to the tek planning thread, Ill put some screenshots up of the new world/spawn point and let the fun begin. Can leave this thread for a more of an overview of minecraft :D
