Gives me new respect for the Torpedo 3-spd hub.

It makes for some pleasant reading :)

I love the German-ness of the guy. He seems to appreciate everybody on the planet except for "black Africans" as they giggle at him when hes making herculean effort, but brushes it off as perhaps an entitlement of colonial history.

brummie

he the guy whohad his bike nicked after a couple of hours in the UK?

EDdit: yes http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshire/4755973.stm

I heard about that, shocking!

Serious

So how much actual work has he done?

Id like to know how he got by on 75p or whatever a day. Did he live on sewer rat?

maximusotter

More like the kindness of strangers. If I saw somebody on a cast iron three speed with such determination, Id surely buy them a burrito!

Theres only so many days and so many countries where strangers will be around to help you out though. He obviously did survive somehow, anyway

That isnt the difficult bit, you can live on 75p a day in the UK providing you arent too choosy on how you eat, Freegans certainly could do it very easily. In many other countries the prices of foodstuffs are so low you can buy enough to live on for less than 50p a day. Many people actually do live on as little as that in the third world.

No need to eat rat onna stick or inna bun.

No matter where you go there will be someone willing to help you out with something to eat.

Thanks for the public service announcement Dibbler ;)

Wow, makes me feel rather humbled at being excited about managing four miles this morning on my bike :(

It's all fun and games until a 200' robot dinosaur shows up and trashes Neo-Tokyo... Again.

skidzilla

What an incredible guy. :)

Ive stayed in a Ryokan before, I also own a Yakuta like the one hes wearing  in that photo; they are very comfortable to wear whilst trying to sleep in high humidity. :)

Leon
