It is not perfect but it is a good first version, just like the ipod

Think 2nd and 3rd gen iphone and you can see it with 3g, more storage, some software tweaks, 3rd party support sdk is coming January, better camera... All the issues would be tweaked so as a phone it is good now and going to get a lot better

It is the contract and openness that needs to be addressed

I actually think its quite dissapointing.

Its hyped as the most technologically advanced phone on the market.  Its allready outdated.  2MP Camera, no 3G, no GPS, no video recording or MMS.  The list goes on, whether or not you care about those things.

The only thing revolutionally about is the interface and the services that it intergrates with.  Im honestly not interested.

The biggest failure is from a buisness point of view.  It is not going to win over either Blackberry users or Windows Mobile device users becuase it simply will not meet there needs.  I have an XDA Trion for work, I simply would not be able to my job with the Iphone.

Im sure these problems will be addressed in the furure but for now its a shame it will gazzilions from Apples marketing power.

I wanted to hold out on a wm6 device with a 5mp camera, but gave in and went for the HTC Tytn II. WM6 is pretty good, and it contains what I consider to be the two most important features in a handset - SIP and push email support (Not some bastardised version of push email, but a working solution)

Even if a new version of the i3210 (Thats what Im calling the iphone due to its lack of features) comes out with 3G, thats still years behind!

Where is the SIP client and WHERE is the proper push email support? No use, whatsoever, to business users without proper push email. Its also too expensive to succeed in a business environment (Except of course with interior design companies or organisations where manbags are worn). Its TWICE as expensive as a decent blackberry.

The iphone is a ludicrously overpriced entry into an already overcrowded phone market. All the cheap handsets from china and korea will sport a similar interface soon enough, at 1/4 the price. WM6 devices are far more flexible, and boast proper 3rd party support.

Wonder how long it will be before they start shipping with a free manbag.

typing on it now he it works very well. The auto correction is amazing and you have to get used to using your finger full on instead of trying to poke with a fingertip like you have to on all other touch devices. I know whats missing and to be honest Ive been pretty impressed with the speed when browsing over both edge and GPRS. At the minute it does everything I need with a great calendar application, good contact handling and a beautiful interface. Expensive? Sure. But it does everything I need and Im a sucker for interfaces.

Why do you need mms when you have full blown email?
3g and the gps and the camera and for an ipod small storage are really the only things that let it down and not hard to correct with a 2nd or 3rd generation. Nokias first phones were not exactly amazing were they? Googles one will not have everything right either.

The main reasons I will not be getting an iphone, even though I want one is;

1; locked to O2 only!! (yes I have read the other posts obout unlocked ones in france etc)

2; "iPhone 8GB will be available to buy at £269 only on O2. There is a minimum 18 months contract on our dedicated tariffs for iPhone."

3; Monthly Subscription £35 £45 £55
Inclusive Minutes 200 600 1200
Inclusive SMS 200 500 500
Unlimited Data* Yes Yes Yes
7500 Wi-Fi Hotspots** Yes Yes Yes
Visual Voicemail Yes Yes Yes
Roaming Special roaming
rates with ITS Special roaming
rates with ITS Special roaming
rates with ITS

So in other words Compleate Fing rip off.

£35 for 200 mins & texts!!!! thats one hell of an expensive price! my Orange contract phone is £30 a month with 500 minutes and 500 Texts.

Unlimited data. 200 text and minutes is plenty for me, but Ive never used much data before because the download limit was so pathetic. Ill be using a lot more now.

My touch comes any day now, your right the phone is a good concept and I think 2nd or 3rd gen will be very much  the phone to get IF the contract crap all gets sorted.
Hopefully apply will be just milking the exclusive stuff etc for the first generation only then open it up and with it doing well the mobile phone as a whole will take a step forward and get rid of the chunky phone forever
While many of us will say it is pricey for a phone apply have shown a hell of a lot of people will still pay this so that may be a bad thing for mobile phones, more cool stuff and looks but prices may go up a bit

MMS, why?  Dont know I dont use them.

We know you really want 3G and GPS, were going to give it to you in the christmas 2008 version is hardly and excuse now is it.

I like the way you completely ignored my point on buisness customers.
