they must be stupid...

Even though its unrelated (wrong type of fuel but it wont matter) itll just take one paper or tv show to say they are blocking fuel for old people at christmas and theyll lose all support for their cause.

If you make christmas miserable for even a tiny proportion of the population this group will be hated.

What I dont get is... Petrol barrels are set in dollars.  The £ buys about 2$ right now which is huge.  So why isnt petrol immensly cheap when we have a strong pound?

Madrocker

I got an email about this today.

QuoteDear David,

Last week I was informed that a group called Transaction 2007 had plans this weekend to release a statement announcing some kind of protest action relating to the price of fuel in the UK. I have just read a statement published on their web site in which they have confirmed that they are going to organise legal protest action, and that it could begin as early as this Wednesday.

I have got more on the PetrolPrices.com blog about this:

http://www.petrolprices.com/blog/petrol-price-protests-planned-for-this-wednesday-86.html

We will of course be following the story as it unfolds next week to keep you informed. If you want to express your opinion about the plans you can do so on our blog, as always, by leaving your comments and voting in our polls.

Regards,
Brendan

Serious

I remember the last time this happened, rows of Essex idiots in their SUVs and 4X4s lined up complaining about the price of petrol when their vehicles drink over three times the average. If anything it weakens their argument rather than support it.

Mark

Its actually happening on Saturday, so more people have the opportunity to join the protests.

I for one am sick of the amount of tax we have to pay, and fuels constant rise is the last straw. I give those filthy scumbags well over £2000 tax a month and they still expect me to bend over and take it in the rear for every drop of fuel I use to make them tax off MY money.

They apparently have threatened to use the army this time.

Those fat losers are so far removed from the real people they dont realise what an affect their greed and communism has.

Cypher

Ive been keeping my car topped up recently rather than running it dry as I usually do.  I can last about 2 weeks with a tank while working so if something silly does take place I should be ok.

Says Mr 500 horsies under the bonnet of a huge lump.

Get yourself a firkin small car with a more efficient engine. If you only get 9 miles to the gallon then that is your fault not theirs. If you use the stuff then you have to accept that you gotta pay for it.

I pay for petrol for my brothers car occasionally and £20 for half a tank is a lot lighter than £50 or more.

Hasnt Mark got an Citroen AX too?

I dont think road tax is bad tbh, about £64 for 6 months isnt that bad.

I think petrol prices are to expensive, but I cant understand if all the big oil companies make billions of pounds a year, surely they could work with car companies to get a hydrogen distribution system. We could then use fuel cells.

I dont agree with the tax rise on LPG which was along with the rise a few weeks ago.

DEViANCE

Ive just put 55litres in the zed, should be good for 610+miles/couple of weeks.

Im all for the protests, not just for the fuel tax but I think this country just takes it up the ass from the govt without complaining far too often.

Just hope they are supported by the media aswell.

How would that help ? Hydrogen is expensive

My daily driver does almost 100mpg and I run on a blend of diesel and vegetable oil.

why would they want to spend money on that when if they do nothing they can make even more

thats an awfully naive statement
