Ive ordered the Base metal collection but I wish I could afford the Platinum collection tbh :p

I like the fact that the design on each smaller denomination coin, when laid out as above, produces the complete shield as shown on the one pound coin. Nice touch.

(btw, £35 for £1.88 in currency is a great business model. Why didnt I think of it !??)

Quote from: zpyderIt wouldnt require a change to the mechanism, the shape and weight of the coins would remain the same. The patterns would only change.

But as I said, I understand it would not be possible, just cool if it was :P

you could do it over several years, with the coins changing places each year. The date stamp changes every year so presumably they have to make a new mould anyway.

I agree it would never happen, but I also agree with Zpyder that it would be cool
Oh I see what you mean now - split the shield into more parts...

I guess the problem would be that you end up with lots of coins with nothing actually printed on them or just a line or leg of a lion, etc.  The full pattern might look pretty but when you looked at the individual coins youd just wonder what the hell are those three lines about.

a good point is made here, the new designs lack a numeral to denote their value.

For those of us used to them over the years, this is a non-issue. For tourists and young children, who are shakey on reading the numbers writen down, this could be fun and games. Not impossible certainly, but more difficult.

What about the other side of the coin?

presumably still dominated by the queens head, if they tried to change the other side THEN youd see some complaints.
