i need a new PC screen. i want it to be flat panel and low fps. cz i am a gamer. what can u suggest. oh and has to be larger then 19" cz that is what i got now.

Serious

What sort of resolution are you looking at and price?

I actually killed two birds with one stone by getting one of these 32" multi-use LCD TVs

Lexsor LC32M5S 32" High Definition LCD TV

Just over 16ms means adequate response for games and the relatively huge size certainly pays off too. If you get sick of playing then you can watch TV on the same screen. Trouble is its relativly expensive compared to a smaller monitor.

I didnt buy it from currys though, some other place had it for just Ã,£670.

If you are looking for bigger than 19" i would recommend looking at either the Viewsonic (a little pricy tbh) or the belinea 102035W which are 20.1" 8ms for under Ã,£330 gets you a nice widescreen with a relatively thin bezel.

no a skeen....

And a low FPS? Are you sure I mean I could give you a TFT with 0FPS. Not promising you would get to see much tho...

Get a dell widescreen, 20" or 24".  Theyre the mutts nuts apparently.

www.widescreengamingforum.com if you wanna look up some reviews on flat panels.

NEC 20WGX2 looks good in my book, glossy finish and v low latency.

dell panels are good but more "average" in respose rates

I recently got one of those 24" Dells and i love it to bits!

I think theres a new revision coming out of them in the near future which you should keep an eye out for.

Once you go widescreen youll never go back! I find it really does make such a massive differance. Not only with gaming/movies but general desktop use and browsing aswell.

If you have the cash the Dell 24" screens are the way forwards:

I have the apple 23" cinema screen which is exactly the same except dell put all the electronics inside to let their monitor be a decent high definition tv screen while apple didnt.

Widescreen monitors are so nice.  23-24" show two A4 sheets side by side real size and also show why all design/production software has their control menus in bars at the side of the screen.  Cant recommend the above enough if you have Ã,£700 to splash on a screen.  Theres no visible lag/ghosting during gaming and for day to day use its great.

PS: You probably dont want to go bigger than 24" as 30" and above screens are quite hard to use due to their size.

Ive heard that there is ghosting visible on the dells, 16ms is quite slow indeed!

If you are a serious gamer youll want a viewsonic, 2ms response time(grey to grey), you wont find ghosting in the fastest of games!.

Also you will find that 19" tft is much bigger than a 19" crt, because of the proportion difference and more visible screen surface.

The bigger the screen, the slower the response time, the worse it is for games, so you really need make a comprimise between how much you want a mahoosive screen, and how much you need fast ghost free games.

Blade

Getting my new screen on Friday, hopefully.

Will be either the 20" widescreen NEC or the 24" widescreen Dell.

Probably the Dell.

There is a huge market for 19" and above screens.  Can start as low as Ã,£200.  and just goes up from there.

Really depends on your budget, again as said, if you can afford it look towards the Dell Widescreen monitors.

Shaun

I have a Dell 24" and do a lot of gaming and Ive never experienced ghosting, but it did take me awhile to get used to it especially in FPS with a much larger area to keep track off :D

madmax

think it wasnt that theres lots of ghosting, more over that theres a latency between sending it down the cable and it displaying it on some dells, as much as 30-40ms

I just got the viewsonic VP920, right nice, no ghostin good response time and it swivals which is fantastic when Im pretending to do work.. HeHe
