Okay so I get to get my first car and fortunately my company will be fronting all the costs

Ive a choice of:
Ford SMAX - Studio 100
Ford CMAX - Studio 100
Ford Focus - Studio 100
Ford Fusion - Zetec Climate

Im leaning towards the Ford Fusion Zetec Climate as its a decent spec, comes with a 1.6 diesel engine. But then the Ford focus looks a nicer car, and is bigger

What would you pick?

My dad has a focus hes happy with it.

The focus is the Base spec one however.

Fusion = 1 from top spec.

The quikclear windscreen, the air con and the alloy wheels appeal to me

What will you be doing with it?  Motorway, Town of a mix of both?  Also, check company car tax and suchlike.  Personally I would sooner be paying a little as possible for the best balance of practical and cheap.  Ive seen someone trying to fit a full set of rackmount servers into the back of a Golf, it wasnt pretty.  

fusion is fugly though id have the cmax myself, get all sorts of stuff in the back

Id be driving 90 miles a day, 80miles of it on the motorway. 10 Miles of it in traffic jam hell. As for fitting stuff in the back, not really an issue, both cars appear adequate in space for that.

Just looking at the focus, thats a damn sight sexier than the fusion... but totally no frills, I mean they even punt a fuel tank hole that doesnt fit a diesel pump as a prime feature.

all much of a tedious muchness with those engines, so go with the one with the most toys... you drive it from the inside not the outside.

And get it remapped when you get it - one of the generic ODB flashes will do

If youre saying the others dont have aircon, get the one with aircon, you must be mental to buy a new car nowadays with no aircon

The cheapass one button aircon in the Fords is pretty useless anyway. Id go for the S-Max so you can transport seven people to the meet-up

S-Max because I love cars you can fit half your house in. If you dont want something that big the Focus because the C-Max and Fusion are ugly as sin.

I agree. They are just Fords at the end of the day, the Focus may look nicer, but if you dont need the room definitely get the Climate with all the toys. Air con isnt just for summer, its the best screen demister out there.

Personally, Id get the S-max. My dads got one for work, its supremely comfortable and surprisingly nimble. Also, its got 7 seats or about 6 cu yd of storage. Youd get a rackmount and about 3 children in the back of it. And it looks better than the C-max or fusion

having a gander on the ford website and it says they dont do a SMAX in the studio spec, the edge spec is the base one and thats got aircon, so if u could double check on the SMAX trim level it might be an Edge and youd be onto a winner
