i need a new exhaust for the mot which is on the 2nd of march , i have tried a load of places and 95% of them do not have my car listed

i have a 2005 perodua kelisa 1.0gxi

the above is to give you a rough idea what it looks like (mine has alloys and rear spoiler etc and is all met blue) , local exhaust centres want £288 fitted while the dealer wants £284 + fitting .
now here is the thing , i went to one place called HI-Q which do power-flow exhausts (stainless steel) .
and to my suprise they will do me the full system for £240 all in , talk about bargain or what but why are exhausts that expensive for small cars ?
(only reason i bought it new was the MPG )

The problem is rarity. Most supply off the shelf components fitted by a monkey. So when they have to do one that they might see once a year at best the price goes up. For stainless steel places they probably make to order, so their price difference wont be anywhere near as great.

true but i always thought that a stainless steel exhaust cost twice as much as a standard steel one ? , but i will not have to worry in the next few years for a replacement :)

you should try to find somewhere that supplies garages with parts... I use a place called NPA but theyre only in the north east iirc...

do you need a full new exhaust or only part of it ?

i have been to every motor factor in a radius of 20 miles , none have them listed and i find it hard to believe that they have stopped making them for a car thats less than 4 years old . but the local dealer has gone under :(

I tend to use Budget.  They always need re-fitting slightly so they fit properly, but the last 2 times they have been cheaper than anyone else by a long way.  Im not arsed about crawling underneath and twisting the joints a bit when its been cheaper than buyig the parts alone.

I think the reason yours is expensive is that they wont be making too many of them TBH.  The Civic I had last needed a full exhaust except for the cat, and it only cost me £70 fitted.

my car should be ready in the morning with a shiny new stainless steel power flow exhaust system , just hope they have made it correctly lol . power flow ? does this meas a sports exhaust ?

Mark

powerflow is a franchise that makes generally sh*te exhausts.

^Read as adequate, they arent the best but they arent the worst either. Mark tends to be a perfectionist too.

No in short they are sh*t. Do Powerflow still offer the lifetime warranty on their exhausts? As Ive had many friends abuse the living sh*t out of that due to them making poorly made exhausts...
