Other than WoW, and EVE, LOTRO, and AoC, is there anything else out there?

I have that craving to lose my soul in a MMORPG (Damnit) and have played the above. I honestly dont know why I sometimes want to play these games, as I pretty much hate PvP and the ganking that follows, and so am left with the mundane "kill xx" "fetch xx" "escort xx" "go to xx" quests and grinding.

But still.

Warhammer Online any good or is it as disappointing as AoC was?

Quixoticish

Warhammer Online was dissapointing, fun for a week or so and then more of the same. But that said I thought AoC was great so you might get more mileage out of it than I did.

Pirates of the Burning Sea is a great "pick up and play" MMO that Im working through at the moment. There are plenty of dodgy aspects to it but if youve even a remote interest in the period then its worth a look.

City of Heroes/City of Villains is another cracking "pick up and play" style MMO that is lots of fun but isnt too deep or complex and doesnt require hours and hours in front of the keyboard.

Dont forget Guild Wars.

Serious loves it, almost as much as posting on this forum.

I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Ended up getting Warhammer Online, quite liking it, even if I havent a clue whats going on. I like the implementation of PvP and PvE. Its easy to drop in and out of player combat as its literally on your doorstep, but you can avoid it if you like.

The only shame is I seem to be levelling really quickly lol.

Bacon

The biggest shame is the fact they just cut staff and have reported active subscriptions has dropped to under/around 300k, not good for a game that is aimed at the pvp aspect and siege battles but they wrecked the game at the start, same with all the companies releasing MMOs at the moment and trying to out do WOW, its just not going to happen with a shoddy release.

I have a maxed char, i levelled him pretty much solo, saw no one around in the top tiers, never any pvp as most if not everyone nearly was still in the lower tiers, once i had levelled i quit playing, considered going back but after seeing the latest figures its just another case of prolonging the death of the game, it wont recover now.

Ps. Like i said before, dont forget Guild wars,

its cheap to buy, always on specials
very accessible, any new person can level in 1-5 days
you can hit pvp or pve right away at level 20
you can sit around in the noob zone and level to 20 slower, but make big profits $$$ for when you hit the main game, imperfect statted items make BIG money

I bet Serious would have invited you to his guild, he has done rather well and i think still enjoys it.

After the purchase of the initial game there is no monthly subscription
Its still being patched up regularly

That would have been a good choice to :D

I gave up just after Christmas, it was taking up far too much of my time. Have other things to do for the moment.

I dunno about the numbers. Id expect quite a few people would cut their subs to thinks like MMOs in the current economic climate.

Also at the moment there is no real shortage of people attacking keeps and things, on a regular basis throughout the day the zones I am in report changing control of the area. Id hope that now the release is over ish, therell be a fair few more players at 40!

tbh
Is that text-based?  Looks like it, judging by the lack of vid/pictures on the site.

Think harder. £10-15 a month for unlimited play. What can you get for £10-15 month in the real world that will keep you busy all month? :) I personally can save more money when i have a subscription to an mmo active.

Dont get me wrong, thats the very reason I decided to reenter the world of MMOs.

But I am referring to the general masses. The people that complain of having no money, whilst feeding their 40 a day smoking habit etc. There are plenty of people who out of sheer fright of the economy will have cut back all unnecessary spending etc.

Most of those people dont know how to cut back, they will struggle on smoking 40 a day, drinking special brew every might xD
