No thats wrong. if 2 police officers think someone is speeding then they can give them a NIP

Im not sure about Marks statement that 1 traffic officer can hand out a NIP but i definitely know that 2 can

Police officers are classed, under the rules of evidence, as expert witnesses as to speed of vehicles on a road. Which means their opinion of speed is admissible in a court of law. The courts however require some form of corroboration to this opinion. This can be lasers, radar, another police officer, video etc.

Another police officer could almost always materialise in these cases.

exactly......

but guess who would be waiting for me outside my house every day and outside work every night if I annoy him ?

then you make a complaint about harrasment.
I got a mate whos been through a simlar process, so cop buddies started giving him problems instead, he reported each of them & eventually got no more hassle.

no, its called a section 59 and its a note against the car reg that at that time you were being a naughty boy and were told to calm down.

its just evidence that can mount up against you over time if youre a bad lad. and you keep the car.

Aye not on the licence but insurance keeps it on record for 5 years :/ I had a right ball ache with my insurers just to get them to remove the notes on my points on the 6th year as they said it didnt matter but when I got my renewals through it was stating the points on the licence :/ They will try anything to get a few quid out of you.

Im starting to think speeding is one of the most hypocritical things people can have a go at you for.  Even more so from the speeding camapigners and experts more so these days,

One of the these days Im going to get some points, a lot of major roads in my area have had the limits scrapped, some dual carigeways to 50.  I have a lot of respect for the 30 limit in urban areas, its the only one I openely give a damn about, i wont be testing my brakes for the sake of a child, but some of these new limits feel absolutely rediculous,  I aim to drive for a balance of safetly and progress, you sit there feeling like you might as well be on horse and cart.

Theres a reason we have the best record in Europe and that the training and strict tests, not the nanny state speed brigade.

What I find amusing is the country roads that I know that run parralel to roads like the A5 that are still 60.  I wonder which local counciller got a back hander to knock the limits down.

On my trip up to the lakes, I found that generally on the motorways people stuck to the limits a lot more than around town down here. Its a shame as around uni way it seems that 9/10 people want to play magnetic bumpers. One of these days Im gonna slam my breaks on to see what happens, proclaiming that the person behind obviously didnt see the fox run out in front of my car.

Whats worse is the worst point for this is next to a park where theres craploads of cars parked on the side of the road, prime place for kids to run out into the road...

I chose smooth radio to calm my driving. It really does work and rarely speed, even getting to the speed limit feels like a chore.
