Who has em ?

802.1x auth is STILL broken for WPA-Enterprise

Also, no wireless card I have tried roams between access points in a trapeze mobility domain

Even WPA-PSK auth takes longer than Windows XP

Mark

problem 2: spurious addition of 0.0.0.0 as a default route.

Beaker

Had no issues either wandering between access points,  or with WPA-PSK Authentication Speed.

Im using a crappy Broadcom of some flavour, and it flips between my 2 access points without a care.

Tbh unless they have made a big change to the network software it will be sporadic like it has been in windows xp and vista.

Why ms cant get decent networking software right I dont know. Probably having to support too many different chipsets, that is the price you pay for having unlimited hardware choices. :)

Never once had an issue with my macbook and I have connected it to a multitude of varying complexity networks. Unlike both my windows machines which are very tempremental when it comes to connecting to and staying connected to a network.

No network issues what at all in Ubuntu but I hear that some have issues with wifi after some upgrades.

Have a friend that cannot connect to a wifi with Vista he can connect at work but not at home it stays connected a short while but disconnects. My ubuntu lappy connected without any problems without me doing anything but starting up :)

I am actually aghast that they have not fixed the 802.1x issue yet !! there are loads of places using WPA-Enterprise.

Seemingly, plenty of vista users have the same issue.

Yeah and this wifi AP has no security  at all  to make it easy to connect to (out in country with no nearby neighbours) and still he cannot connect I tried some fixes but non seem to help !!!

I find just fiddling with the settings randomly and putting them back to how they should be eventually makes it work.

I know what the settings should be... but sometimes I think windows just ignores what you think and sticks in its own values till you tell it enough.

Oh and have they changed (read improved) the networking and wireless control panel section from Vista in 7. One thing that I seriously hate is how many random pop up windows there are in the default vista network management ap. Things that could be on 1 scrolling window end up in 10 different sub options each with their own window and no way back to the previous window without closing that one.

As I am running Ubuntu I havnt bothered looking to deep in to Vista but yes there seems to be is a lot of popups and hard to find ones way.

7 is pretty much just vista..... fixed
(mostly)

Ive never had any problems with 7 (tho I dont use wireless)

The one true bug so far that Ive found is the Creative console launcher, I opened it up, reduced the bass, and then closed it, and it reported that it had stopped responding, I chose to close it, yet its still running, and the changes I made are still going.

Got a BSOD a few days ago.

And another today, when it rebooted it BSODd straight away again.

Seems since monday my comp has gone from being stable to a dog, with firefox crashing several times and Kaspersky having a few hissy fits.

DEViANCE

windows 7 has been perfectly stable for me since Ive had it. Dont even think I have had to use the task manager or reset button.
