What makes me laugh about Wigan is that the people there have this delusion that the pier is the pinnacle of our civilisation.

My brother was married to a Nigerian, it didnt work out well but that was because they shouldnt have been together in the first place, rather than any failings of them as a couple.

i.e.  rich/poor,  muslim/christian  etc.

Im not but know several who are, they seem to be doing fine.

Main issue seems to be discussing cultural differences before they become an issue.

I am in a mixed race relationship. 15 Months in and it is going brilliantly.
Problem is with her having to sneak around, hardly spending the full night, leaving at 2 am and Me only seeing her 14 ish hours of a week and like the last few weeks even less then that.
She is asian and her whole family do not know I exist.

Bothering me a hell of a lot now and just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences.

I have/had (not heard from him in 7-8 months!) a friend who was seeing a chinese lass. He went over to China to meet the family around the time the olympics were going on. What he told me of the Chinese in China put me off going to China :| I mean we all knew of the censorship etc going on, but actually getting a first hand account of just how bad the propaganda and censorship was, as well as the racism he encountered (doesnt help being Iranian I guess). I found it weird as the Chinese people I know in the UK are really great people, but it seems the ones that havent escaped to the west have a really different view on things.

He said he was constantly arguing with his girlfriends father as he kept saying that the chinese were better at x y and z and getting into all sorts of challenges to prove himself, though how much of this was just my friend being the way he is I dont know!

Another friend recently married a portuguese lass. Completely the other end of the spectrum I think, where the families get on really well etc!
