*shudder* I hate that system, mate changed his plugs fro non0standard ones, and it was giving sh*tloads of errors!  plugs FFS!

soopahfly

Personally, we reckon its an earthing problem.

The Haynes book of lies says that all the dash warning lights are connected to the same earth as the fog lights which we are struggling to find.  Knowing our luck, it will be the same as the ECU too.

knighty

you could try connecting a better earth to the earth connection on the fog lights ?

they might be connected together ok... but not earthing problem ?

would only take 5 min so its worth a try ?

soopahfly

I tried that yesterday.  Two bits of wire, take the +ve from the socket, and -ve to the body/battery and we got that one light on.  Tried it on the other one, nada.

Went back to other light, nothing.

Something bizzare is happening with this.  Although to be expected....It is french :D

Citroen usually earth all the dash to a connector attached somewhere under the sterering column.

PS, I have autodata if you need it looking at

soopahfly

Whats autodata?

Anyhoo, onto an update.
Citroen seem to think we were born yesterday.

"Yes sir, its the instrument cluster thats faulty, Citroen have discontinued the part and we cant give you a part number to check yourself, that will be £70.50, plus 2 hours labour"

Mark

They can easily get the part# from servicebox, and xsara parts are still made.

autodata is basically all the autodata books on dvd

andy25_hill

I double checked with Evans Halshaw just to see if Autoworld were taking the p1ss and their system advised that the cluster was discontinued but did advise that Autoworld could get in touch with the Citroen tech team (Onion Monkeys) to find find an alternative.

Anyway Autoworld have been advise that i will be collecting the car tomorrow and settle a bill of £211 but also i will be sending the cluster off for repair and while in for repair they find nothing wrong with it the car will be going back and they will look again and no money will change hands. :yarr:

andy25_hill

The cluster has been sent for repair but yesterday me an Soopahfly went to a scrappy in Barnsley to collect another cluster to test.

Guess what......................................... Autoworld were wrong! Same lights on a different cluster.
