Im talking about any scenario, traffic or no. My reasoning being it promotes a bad practice which at some point could result in a nasty accident on the rare instance that something is in your blind spot that you didnt see. Of course you could argue that you should only do it when you are 100% there is no other traffic, but EVERYONE slips at some point. Im sure the people that nearly plow into me at the end of my grandmothers street because theyre cutting the corner, argue that they only ever do it when theres no other traffic, yet here I am having to slam my brakes on....

negative road captain, the police will pull the one at the back.

also (confirmed by her indoors as 5 oh of some 6 or 7 years experience, 80on your speedo usually translates to 75 on their tools, which isnt the kind of dnagerous driver they want. the 90mph tailgater, the undertaker, thats what they look for.

most battenberg dibble types actually want more driver training after the test to support newer faster cars and roads. not that this sh*tty govt want it cos itll lessen fine revenue.

One of the reasons for liking my micra was I used to believe that if I was following the traffic doing 80-90mph on the motorway, who would the police pull, the grotty looking micra, or the expensive audi/bmw in front of it...

They could sort it out so that it didnt reduce fine revenue if they wanted...such as mandatory driver training/mini-tests for minor offences, which you have to pay for. They already do it for some things, they could just increase it.

As to the speedos, this comes back to the question of what is likely more accurate, a car speedo or a GPS unit. My money is on the GPS unit, given that at times Ive had 3 different systems running at the same time reporting the same speed, whilst the car speedo is saying its higher.

Cant really blame em though, its safer to overestimate the speed. Its an extra safety net as to get done for doing say 77mph, my speedo would need to be reporting 85mph probably, and really what do you expect when your car says youre doing 15mph more than the limit?

My biggest bugbear, especially so after 4 visits to London in 6 weeks, is all the f**king idiots who sit in the middle lane for no reason what so ever.

Its them that cause most of the traffic congestion!

Pretty sure we had this exact same conversation about speeding and GPS readings etc on a previous incarnation of Tek about 5 years ago! Pretty sure we concluded that speedos have to read over by law and that maybe its even part of the MoT test?
