well i rang DHL  and they said it had been delivered , the acer online support says under repair . i hope it will be returned soon , find it odd that they will repair it sooner than replacing it

If their packaging was good enough to get it to you then it should have been good enough to return it to them. If not they should send you the packaging they want it returned in.

As for it being damaged en-route, that is the couriers problem, not yours. If they pay for transport then they claim off the courier for damage while it is being transported.

Its my understanding that couriers(dhl at least) do not cover lcds for damage, if you look at the excluded items.

A lot of couriers wont cover glass based products like TVs but i could see the reasoning behind not covering LCDs either.

This is the exact reason Acer lost our companies business. We used them exclusively for 4 years and whilst very happy with the products - the service and returns was just absolutely the biggest joke of all time. We were forced to switch to Dell who to be fair have awesome service - although their products have failed 68% more than Acers and thats an actual stat from our system which is a shocking figure really. Fact is though they can fail all they want because Dell fix them so damn quick and easily.
Career, Wife, Mortgage... my sig was better when it listed guitars and PC's and stuff!

I buy monitors these days based on the warranty, as long as the product meets its requirements/specifications i am happy, the moment it fails i get it replaced under the solid warranty plan.

Still the manufacturers issue. They should arrange transport by a suitable company, if the company wont cover an item then they should go elsewhere. Im pretty sure it wouldnt stand up in court.

Then again, if you have paid with a credit card, they should handle the issue, cause you will be suing both.

chaotic_uk

i paid by debit card when i purchased the monitor ,  so i am not covered in the same way

Its not the manufacturers issue, and not the couriers problem, its the shops, taken from soga " It is the seller, not the manufacturer, who is responsible if goods do not conform to contract".

And we all know that computer stores dont fob you off to the manufacturers more often than not :P

acer did not even inform me that they had recieved it , i had to phone dhl to find out . whats the correct phone number for contacting acer uks support , the number on the website is incorrect as i was informed by the rude idiot who took my call . then refused to give me the correct number , trying to find out the status on my monitor and an eta for the return

chaotic_uk

just rang acer again , they said it could not be repaired and will be replaced . the order for a replacement went in on the 6th of this month , but it will take 14 working days before i get it . this will be the end of the month will it not ?

I almost feel better about the fiasco I had with my Dell monitor...in that I ended up going through 4 monitors in less than a month, but had a lot less hassle than you. M1: dead pixel, contacted seller with their pixel perfect warranty, had a day arranged to swap at door. M2/replacement had been dropped on route and was pretty knackered with cracks and bits missing, kept M1 from that and sent the courier on his way. M3 had a power issue or something really strange going on. Dell then turned around and said they were going to properly check the final one as it was pretty weird how crap my luck had been, and its been fine...even though it fell off of my desk after a week, and I stabbed it with a pair of scissors after a month :|

only reason i purchased it at a local store is if anything went wrong , what a mistake that was and will buy off an etailer in future . whatsthe best brand of monitor nowdays
