Quote from: DEViANCEI seem to have a slight problem with the scart on the freeview+ box.

when in RGB mode it is very snowy, it is ok in non RGB mode but obviously not as good as a properly working RGB signal.

The scart cable is 5m long and I had to take the plug apart to get it through my holes.

Is the length likely to be the issue or have I damaged the plug?

Cheers

i would imagine possibly damaged the plug. I use a 10meter scart & dont have a problem.

Eggs right, now youve decided you want a proper surround setup you would be much better off with a decent dedicated amp (Yamaha or Onkyo FTW) rather than having the switcher. A decent one will allow you to plug in all your video/audio sources and output surround to your speakers, and send all video to the TV through the one HDMI.

If youre on a budget look at what Richer sounds have on offer in their surround packages, at a glance either of these would be good for you, the Onkyo amp is less powerful but better specced on paper:

given up with scart, I spent hours soldering a brand new plug on and it is exactly the same, I guess it is just a sh*t cable.

Got it hooked up with good old fasioned RF at the moment and the picture is actually perfect but there is some interference on the sound, a high pitch whine.

Anyway going to bin that box and get Freeview HD + box so that I am 100% HDMI.

AHHH now im having problems with the humax freesat hd box.

It keeps going into standby mode on its own, pissing me off now.

Ive switched powersaver off and auto standby off but it is still doing it.

I wonder if it is because it is going though the hdmi switch it thinks its not getting watched?

or is the box just faulty?

Try the box without plugging it in through the switch and youll have the answer, sounds to me more like a faulty box though.
