It's a big etch-a-sketch, I think it's gonna get steamrollered by the next MS/Sony offerings tbh.

I just can't see how it's going to be comfortable!

Look like a step backwards to me, moving to a more restrictive and less precise control rather than less restrictive and more precise one.

Cant see any appeal of this, it also removes the party, fun console aspect. Bit of a fail for me. Cant imagine it competing on price either with that control.

No actual games or real developers on board for it. I bet they are all like us - Erm, hmm, is it worth developing on?

I always though Sega with the LCD for some useful info was a good idea but this is a bit big?
A small LCD that did a few things I would be in for but, not sure.

I think it has clever ideas and how your console is basically streaming the game to your controller without the need for TV etc but I am not sure.

No, even they were pretty much saying a lot are concepts etc and while some games May be in development there was not much that was concrete.

Battlefied 3 is a prime example. Listen to what he said.
"Maybe a battlefield game" and not necessarily 3, it will be a game of some sort. The others are planned but again a lot of those during the conference were being mentioned as planned or being looked at it.
Watching the Giantbomb stream today they covered exactly that - Not many concrete games announced yet. It was very much a tech presentation to get developers on board.

I know.

By years out more concrete stuff will come out but it is very early days for the console and nothing concrete and like Giantbomb team - Very cool concepts but the practicality of the thing could crash and burn.

The other aspect is the graphics and processing power.
It is a lot better but for a 2012 release and when MS will likely show off their next console which will be pretty heafty leap on that front and the PS3 already only just being tapped into its full potential... It is being compared to current consoles in terms of graphics, that is not a good thing.

I think by mid 2010 this console will already looked dated.
No Blu ray by the sounds of it (well no news saying yes yet) is a big mistake as well.
Nintendo online is not going forward enough, media support is light as well. Still early days and things can change but as a lot of people already are saying..

Could well be a step backwards for Nintendo and with the PSVita being priced competitively against the 3DS and Wii Says falling rapidly and game sales having always been average at best...

Nintendo are in for a very ropey couple of years in my view.

What I will admit will be cool (assuming they do it) that stupid controller screen being used as a motion tracker in Aliens

That is what it is for me. On Paper this concept is flipping awesome.
BUT
Playing Aliens moving around looking for people or having to look down on that controller looking at your alien Radar or for another game putting the controller on the floor - Yep, in theory that sounds cool, BUT!
In reality - not really.
People will go swing at golf and accidentally stand on the controller, your going to get annoyed looking up and down from screens or get disoriented doing screen on screen...

In terms of developing games I can see it being really annoying.

You make your game and you use the screen and motion controls. But someone wants to then go play just on the console screen so you will need to have normal controls and non two screen options so you cover that OR you just say "Nah you cant, put your Tv back on" OR you only make games for the controller.
You got to consider the remote's and which ones people use as well.
Again what you can do with this new console in theory is all pretty awesome but to develop a game that is not going to piss people off depending on what they try to do with it is going to be really troublesome.

True but not as magical as it sounds.
Basically what they have learnt from building that they are applying to their chips.
Microsoft have their tri core chip in their Xbox and considering it's age at the time that was some Chip considering if you look at say Tomb Raider on it today running with the GPU on the same dye too.
Their next console is likely to be another IBM Chip so would also likely be based on "Watson" Tech and will have more grunt then the wii u.

Wii Sales are falling a lot (as you showed in another thread) and this looks like confusion from Nintendo and with the complaints of no HD or decent graphics with the Wii this all just feels like a "Quick fix" which seems to be on the cards for a flop. Nintendo could pull through but while I never owned a Wii I respected what it did and it made Nintendo Money.
This U looks to be another Gamecube, Nice but something not quite full thought through.
