went to the lake district with my gf at the weekend

had a walk around first day, it was really busy

2nd day we hiked up a big hill, not many people around but then we realised we went the long way, there were people around once we got to the top

finally got to a secluded bit

but she was trying to leave, headed for the main road (we were almost out of the place)

so in my panic to make her stay I picked up a bit of sheep sh*t and threw it at her (it was a small dry bit)

she was worried it was in her hair, it wasn't

she tried to leave again so I picked up the same bit and threw it again

luckily that stalled her escape, so I had a chance to get down on one knee and propose

and she said yes :-)

went ring shopping on Friday, it's a bit weird they have about a million rings in the shop but you can;t try on what you want

"we've got this one which is kind of what you want then we could use the stones of this other one"


I didn't realise all the stuff in the shop is fake... so it's not like it would cost a lot?

Even if they're not fake they're not worth the retail price in terms of stones and metal, but I guess you can't try a lot on because they only have limited sizes/range shown? If you went to a chain maybe go to an independent jewellers instead to compare, might get a better deal or something a bit more bespoke?

Just be mindful they can and do grow diamonds in labs for retail, so the whole discussion of "fake" Goes a step further nowadays.

We went to 3 different places, 1st one was by far the best, 2nd one didn't really give a sh*t, 3rd one was pretty crap, was more of "here's 3, pick one"

1st place pretty much said pick any ring, any stones, any design you want and we'll make it... lab grown £1500, real £10,000   :-o
