Well I thought I would open a thread for the new Bond film, Casino Royale.  A workie has saw a free screening of this last night in Gloucester and today has come in saying its the best Bond he has ever seen and not only that, its a fantastic film.  Have to admit I do like the film noir element with the black and white scenes.

I am seeing at the weekend ...

Rivkid

Cant wait to see it. Have heard nothing but great things. Sounds like hes pulled it off......
Career, Wife, Mortgage... my sig was better when it listed guitars and PC's and stuff!

It looks like just enough to tide me over until Season 6 of 24.    ;)

Russell

Im off tonight to see it, Ive been playing football at lunchtime though and am a bit knackered, so lets hope I dont fall asleep in the cinema.

All the reviews say its rather good like so I cant wait.

Smugs

Cant wait to see it from the reviews and trailers Iââ,¬â,,¢ve seen it looks and sounds great and a welcome return to a more gritty hardened Bond.

The last few films put way too much emphasis on the gadgets and CGI effects with the story often being relegated to second place.

And I hope this film shuts all the Daniel Craig haters up talk about pathetic with web sites and the like set up to get him removed even before they had started shooting.

Ive never had a problem with Craig as an actor, I really havent seen much of his work to judge him on to be fair, but that is not my problem with him being chosen as bond.

My problem with him being Bond, is what I have learnt bond to be over the years of watching bond films from being yay high.  That is not someone who is a short blond chap with looks, style and a general build that you associate with her majestys Royal Marines.

That is the problem I will face watching the movie at some point.  Im sure Ill get over it and I hope he makes a fantastic bond, but Its just going to be a bit weird for those reasons.

Sam

Let me know what its like. I cant be bothered battling queues, going with some mates next week.

I saw it last night.  Its very different to the Bond films of the past.  Theres not so much of the humour thats been present in the past films and a lot more talk about feelings!  Bond is darker and moody.

Sony must have paid a fortune for the product placement they got.

Its not bad, but very different.  Just make sure you go to toilet beforehand.  In the cinema I went to loads of people went in with beers and couldnt hold it for the 2.5 hours of the film.

Well I saw it last night and thought it was really good, as Danny said though its very different from the previous bond films, there still plenty humour in it but not as much as there was.  Is it a good thing, Id have to say yeah, it looses all the campness that was in the last few bond films.

Oh and Eva Green in that dress  :heehaw:

It was a bit silly, phones, laptops, you name it.  I also wonder if ford have done enough to get the new Mondeo and DBS out and sold in the american market.

The movie itself was fantastic and well worth the hype it has been recieving as of late.  Again the humour was there, but not the typical cheesy one liners we love and hate.

The only thing I found weird about the film is how if Im not mistaken is that its set before doctor no in the career of commander Bond, but yet how its set in the modern day?

I think for the first time we saw a true interpretation of who, what bond is.  As a complete human being.  Not the seemingly invinvible bond we have seen the last 20 films.

Also, on a side note, the film reminded me why I love Italy so much.  :(

8/10

Im looking forward to seeing this movie sooooo much :)

Goblin

Its like Batman Begins. Its restarting the canon from scratch and (hopefully) taking it in a different, darker, better direction.

Seeing it on Tuesday all being well.
It's all fun and games until a 200' robot dinosaur shows up and trashes Neo-Tokyo... Again.

Serious

TBH it could never be any worse than the original, unauthorised, version. Hopefully will see it over the next few days ;)

Its not bad, but overrated. Slow story which ends 30 minutes before the film does. Bourne-esque direction and stunts. Let down by weak characters and instantly forgettable scenes.

7/10. I may revise downwards in the coming weeks :)

(Go and see Prestige instead. Thats a 9/10!)
