Often down to not using the manufacturers recommended tyres - when I wasnt using expensive rubber on the 16vs they were god awful for lighting the tyres up even up to 3rd gear - I stiffened the rear slightly and got good Michelins again and it went perfectly - still some spin but a lot better.

Before i dropped a nice set of BFG Directionals on the astra I used to be able to kick the wheels in a similar fashion.  Always amusing with the boy racers revving the crap out of their 1.1 to overtake.  Knock it down a gear, floor it and watch them try and keep up.

Youll never convince most people the BX GTi was a good car.  I know the drove well, but they arent exactly the prettiest car around, and never where.  Also the dashboard makes my eyes water, Its really 80s in design, made the Mk1 GTIs i used to have look modern in comparison!

Theyre one of the ugliest cars ever made, but sometimes look ok.
The sound they make more than makes up for it though - best sounding 16 valver by far, and not much to touch them nowadays unless you go turbod!

For 2 grand you could get a Mark1 RS2000 Safari.

Wide body, old school pimpage, RWD and light weight. Its a proper giggle.
