I know a couple of people were looking for a way to control winamp whilst they were gaming (myself included).

Found a nice little Winamp plugin to do just the job : http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=79310

It comes with a couple of pre-sets for common keyboards, but it totally configurable. Hope this helps.  

lol some of us have multimedia keyboards that do the job quite well too lol.

For those wondering how to get the shortcuts working with winamp when its a microsoft keyboard or something without the drivers.... tick "global hotkeys" in the preferences and it should all be fine and dandy.

yup, multimedia keyboard is the easiest option, although i have to use the normal hotkeys at work (ctrl + alt + page down etc..),
