want to pass me a referrer code?  I believe they do them, and youll get a month free.

Beaker

all set up, synced at just over 16Mb at the moment, going to do some tweaking later, and if my stats indicate my line is ok for it ill be going on fastpath. Im told i should be OK for 18-22Mb.  The upload is lovely though, just sat here and my effective upload speed is higher than my Virgin connections download.

Ahh, so good to get away from the retards at Virgin :D

Ceathreamhnan

How far are you from the exchange? Samknows will tell you, I expect you know.

Beaker

790m in a straight line, meaning the wire is likely to be upto 1.5km long.

edit : wrong distance.

Accroding to various sites im ranging between 720m and 1.1km from the exchange.  I got my ruler out on a map and did my own checking!

Kunal

I think they stopped referals.

I doubt youll get more than 20 to be honest, unless you live on top of your exchange.

edit/
Im 710 meters from my exchange, so probably around 1km of wire.

Apparently my exchange services 18,000 households, I know theres quite a few Be customers in my flat block and I connect at    1,325 / 17,098

Ceathreamhnan

Be put in a date at my local exchange then rescinded it, much to my annoyance! the only LLU service available just now is Sky.

Beaker

i asked to be put on fastpath, less than an hour later my line resyncs and i get :

Did a bit of digging, sounds interesting.

Gonna find out if my stats are suitable for fastpath:

This tool is also interesting

You want to get v7.33 for your BeBox. Guide here:

Beaker

Yeah, was looking at the DMT tool, ill tinker once ive moved in properly.  i.e. tomorrow once all my junk is finally moved!

Kunal

On fastpath now and fiddled with DMT a bit (OK my SNR is far too low, but I just wanted to see how fast the line would go ;) )

Speedtest comes up with:

Newshosting tops out at 1.87Mb/sec but I got upto 2.3Mb/sec on Giganews ;)

Gonna set the SNR back to 4, still connecting at 21.3Mbit. Theres quite a few people on the Be forums who have hit above 24Mbit with very stable SNRs (6+)

I think I might lower it by 0.5 every 3 or 4 days and see when I start to get errors.

BBC ping came in at 5ms!

Beaker

im now sat with zero tweaking at a stable 18.5Mb.  Ill do a litte tweaking of the settings when i get some time.  At 20Mb it was dropping for fun, but its fine where I am now.  Will see what i can actually get out of it reliably.  im also gonna swap out the BeBox for something else, a netgear DG834GT i think.

well aint that gay

Quote11/10/2006 Be Unlimited is no longer reporting an enablement date for the A****** exchange
06/08/2006 Be Unlimited has set an enablement date of 30/06/2007 for the A********* exchange

Ceathreamhnan

Maybe they do this so they can say " Ill Be back";)

Clock'd 0Ne

LOL

Other than these monster speeds whats so good about this Be package?
