because its the most stable.  I use it myself because ive tried various ones and overall it gives me the least problems, with the most benefits.  If there are issues with the server not supporting it then ive got about 100Mb of webspace doing nothing at the moment, though the URL would need to be masked.

vBulletin costs ~ £70 per year, ot about £100 for a lifetime licence, and £25 a year for updates IIRC.  I only look at the price when im renewing my updates subscription.  In the past 2 years since ive been running it I had zero database crashes.  the Invisionboard im also involved with flakes out at least once a month, and its got less users.
