QuoteIt was announced that there will also be a total freeze on engine development for a period of 10 years from 2008.

A change can be made after five years but only with the unanimous agreement of all stakeholders and following a further two-year notice period.

There will be no exceptions for development of certain parts of the engine, as is the case under the current regulations.

- Ferrari's request to supply two teams with engines in the 2008 and 2009 championship has been accepted.

[This one is interesting, it seems to me the FIA fined McLaren so hard and by so much just to get the bulk of cash on their new scheme]

- Following the judgement of the World Motor Sport Council on 13 September, a sum in excess of $50 million will be paid in December to the FIA. This will be used to establish the FIA Development Fund, which will assist the work of National Sporting Authorities (ASNs) in promoting the development of safer motor sport worldwide, especially in countries where the motor sport infrastructure is in need of support.  Representatives from Mercedes and Ferrari will be invited to join the Fund's board.

And some would say he would not go..
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/7074737.stm

Of course he was going to, he screwed the team over more then ones this year and getting a right mardey git that he was an equal in a team he thought he would coast the championshp with with a rookie driver as rear guard.

Cypher

If he was going to go, it would be on his own terms, not McLarens, not with a 3 year contract in place.

Its slightly unfair to put the blame completely on Alonso.  Yes Alonso far from helped matters and made his relationship with Ron Dennis worse.   The man came into the team expecting to be the number 1 driver from the start, and with good reason.  Its a team he has allways wanted to drive for.

He didnt know his team mate would be British when he came in.  There really has to be some doubt whether there was equal treatment or not.

It McLarens loss more than Alonsos.  They have just lost one of the finest drivers of his generation.  Expect him to haunt them back at some point in the future just as kimi has.  Right now he is probably the best all rounded driver in the pack.

Just two bits
- The contract when he signed it always stated equal treatment in terms of resources etc which has always been the case with the team and a pholosphy(spelling) ron dennis has kept
- No payout or anything so was not under Alonsos terms - mutual departure and no fee paid out to him

Cypher

When I said terms, I meant because he wanted to walk away, not because he was made to.

I wasnt reffering to any settlement or contractual agreements.

I dont doubt that the contract did say equal chances but there are quite a few nagging doubts in my head.

red

i highly doubt mclaren would put equal support for drivers in their agenda, their team orders were clear enough during the season.

Cypher

Slight gut feeling prediction atm.... dont ask me why.

Alonso to red bull
Webber to renault
Kovaleinen to McLaren
Fishecella replaced by Piquet Nelson Jr

Loki

A lot of talk recently about Alonso to Red Bull, even talks of Sebastian Bourdais deferring entry to another year just so Coulthard can drive a Torro Rosso to make room for Alonso at Red Bull.

Just through process of elimination, it seems highly likely that Kovalainen will take the 2nd McLaren seat - unless Williams have just been trying to bump up Rosbergs price tag all along just for this moment, but I think they would rather be doing well further up the grid and stabilise the team a bit more.

I dont think itll really matter where Webber will end up - he has the worst luck anywhere and everywhere he goes.  A shame.

And I thought Renault gave Alonso a Tuesday deadline to answer their contract proposal....its now Thursday, and nothing set....which means the RBR talks may have a bit more weight behind them....

Cypher

I know coulthard has allready got a contract for 2008, so I dont see him leaving, not after the progress they have made the last 3 years.

Weeber may move if anything because Flavio is his manager.

Just a gut feeling.

the team put a lot of their progress down to him dont they to the media etc and he has put a lot of effort and has been doing really well just being let down by the car and crap rear grid drivers bashing him. This season even at his age he has shown he is still a quality driver and your right he will defiantly be staying there next season

There is quite a few things that are going on in F1 that are really interesting

First up is the news that Ross Brawn ex Ferrari supremo who was taking a break from F1 is coming back but joining Honda and NOT Ferrari

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/7090180.stm
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/7091442.stm

A real score with the Honda Team, if the idiots in the wind tunnel can make a good car this is a brilliant boost for the team.

With this Ferraris Jean Todt  is to be replaced as boss of the F1 team and go back into a senior executive role
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/7090726.stm

But Button has given Honda an Ultimatum, give him a half decent car to challenge with or he is off:
