The great offers really are dried up now year on year. I staked £50 as well with roughly the same spread as you, we have a few crossovers so we will see what comes of it and hopefully we both do well :ptu:

Edit: Looks like Malina Girl pulled out, so I've now bet E/W on Grangeclare West @ 33/1 as well

DENTAL PLAN

LISA NEEDS BRACES

With bet365 out of the picture for me I headed over to the irish bookie, alas Paddy was only offering places for the first 5, so off to Sky I went, first 6, better.

Prices quite different to the above, seems nowhere is offering best odds guaranteed anymore which is rubbish :(

£5 E/W

Beauport 25/1
Grangeclare West 33/1

£3.50 E/W

Nick Rockett 25/1
Duffle Coat 50/1
Mr Vango 33/1

£2.50 E/W

Minella Cocooner 20/1
Coko Beach 66/1

---

Total staked £51

If you're having trouble posting and you're logged already but it keeps asking you to login again, this is is because the Posting form is a bit broken, there is a http/https redirection happening in the form submittal.

I haven't fixed the root cause yet as I haven't found where the rogue hardcoded protocol is coming from but you can fix this temporarily by right clicking on the form title where it says Post reply, choosing Inspect, then using the element Inspector identify in the HTML where it says e.g:
<form action="http://www.tekforums.net/general-discussion/?action=post2;start=45">

Change the protocol in the action from http to https and you will be able to post.

YA USED ME SKINNER!

Even if bet365 do their old mega deal I'm not eligible anyway, my max bet there is now pence ::)

I'll check the popular irish bookmaker nearer the time, no doubt I'll use the same format as last year.

I'm going to say it again. Honestly, your stories and experiences are absolutely ridiculous, write a book.

Back once again for the renegade copypasta

Maybe we'll get a decade of these on the first page of General Discussion eventually

Seems to be one fifth odds as standard, doesn't look like there's any decent offers going around yet again. I've not placed any bets yet, but getting in early is a good idea.

(2024 thread here http://www.tekforums.net/general-discussion/grant-national-2024/)

https://www.oddschecker.com/grand-national/winner <- odds table, remember generally the odds tumble as the event closes in.

Don't bet more than you can afford to lose. The national is quite literally a lottery with so many horses running, the bookies can be "generous" On this event because with such an enormous field and now reduced E/W payouts they still win regardless.

Seems like all the good offers have not been repeated again for this year. I'll probably get bets in soon before the odds have dwindled.

But I'm resurrecting this thread as a warning that I am going to try to plan a time to upgrade to SMF 2.1, which despite being a minor version upgrade is not trivial in the slightest, sh*t is likely to break. The main reason for this is that PHP 7.4 is end of life and I need to move the forums onto PHP 8.x before I start getting charged real monies for extended PHP support. Plus security and all that... After that I will consider doing the HTTPS change too.

Backups will be taken, ofc :w00t:

Interestingly, to my recollection I have done sweet FA and yet HTTPS appears to be working fine, but let me know if anyone has noticed issues with this.

Which in turn means I only have to worry about forum upgrades/PHP 8 so I can finally stop paying for legacy PHP support.  :gag:
