Bluray wins the first battle....

Might be a bit short-sighted of Blockbuster to make a decision relatively early on in the "war". Undoubtably a major coup for bluray though, millions of US customers will be faced with 1 high-def format at their local BB rental, might swing sales of hardware in blurays favour

You can not say that is the first battle becuase hd won that with the porn industry and the porn industry is slightly bigger then block buster :)

Bluray partners may well not want it - but its still a huge huge bonus for HD DVD and a very narrow minded decision from Bluray.


That said anyone else still perfectly happy with DVD? :D

Im sure disc for disc, that more hollywood movies are sold that porno movies worldwide. What Ratio of Movies do you have compared to Pornos?

Its not about the ratio to be fair, its more about the initial adoption. Pron has been the forerunner in web technology for a while. member areas, online payment gateways etc.

I still think cheap pc burners will define the winner of this battle, but im not as knowledgable as the rest of you lot.

HD-DVD seemed to be ahead last time i checked the battle, but on the subject of burners... blue-ray strikes me as the one thats more suited to data-storage than HD-DVD (maybe its just the name tho)

the ONLY advantage for the PS3 is that you have the blue-ray player built in, but there are no decent games and any that are decent are on the 360 anyway

Of course it does
The porn industry AND the gaming industy are BOTH bigger then the movie industry these days and it is very well known (google and you will get pahes and pages) that the porn industry has made the mediums
VHS - porn industy took hold of it, made it like crazy caused it to beat betamax, dvd same the porn industry was the one that first embraced it and got it into the world as it is
There are a number of documentaries that have been made about it as well and it has been discussed befroe.

Swiss - one porn company wanted to make blueray and hddvd but sony will not let porn use their replications plan, but they have found one replication plant which is 3rd party but its small scale.

Agreed - the porn industry is always a heavy player in these things and always will be. Lets face it VHS had nothing else going for it.

As I said in the other post the very very strong rumour is that Sony US gave them crap loads of cash to do it.
Sony is again doing what they did with other mediums pump money (which they do not have but seems to appear) and pay people to stock their stuff.

Remember minidisk they got virgin stores to stock music in it - did not last very long.

Do not know where this "blue ray is winning" "ps3 is outselling the other consoles" talk is coming from around at the moment becuase its all a load of tosh at the end of the day.
