Okay Im not after tons of gadgetry, all Id like specifically is a quality camera on the phone, so one of the new 5mpx jobbies with a good lens and flash would be par for the course.

The Samsung G600 looks good, I like Samsung style and buttons.

The SE k850i is porbably powerful but I dont like their interface or the fiddly buttons.

The Nokia N95 looks  :o but is no doubt an arm and a leg on contract.

Any other phones I should be looking at, good deals anyone knows about, sites I should look at?

Oh one other thing - I do NOT want to be on T-Mobile again, worst service ever, I think they have two masts to cover Britain

Im currently paying circa £30 a month.

Go with the Nokia ... has had sterling reviews.  The gadget show rated it above the iPhone (head to head roadtest) mostly because of its superb photo capabilities.  It should be quite cheap as there is a newer model replacing/soon to replace.  If you are starting a contract, you can get it for free.

The contracts all seem to be around £40 a month for the N95, which is a lot of dollar for a pretty phone.

Sorry, my bad, contracts are quite high on paper.

You should phone customer services of Orange/Voda/02 up, and say you are interested.  You can haggle these guys down.

Does it have to be now? the N82 is worth a look, short wait till its out mind.

im currently debating getting a nokia 6500 classic, anyone got any opinions on them?

Id go for the K800i.  The buttons work fine and the interface is intuitive.   It wont cost and arm and a leg and has good camera and xenon flash.

I used it last night in nottingham at a gig and got a few good pics/movies.

Yes the K800i is a very good phone, iv had it for over a year now and its been by far the best phone iv ever had! i might be looking to upgrade to the N95 soon but the msot noticable problem with them is random restarts on the phone sometimes when a call etc and minor crashes. I wouldnt mind upgrading to the Nokia 6300 phone either (i know its not as good as the K800i but i love the design of it and the 16.7 Million colours it has build onto it)

The 6300 is the best phone Nokia have produced for a long time.

The N series is crap - really really slow and the 9MP camera is awful (but thats what you get for ramming 9MP onto a small CCD)

Oh and dont be fooled by the GPS on the N95, dont work unless the keypad is slid down and even then it only can cope with 5 satellites where as most bluetooth GPS units will do 9 or 11

Just a heads up, the N82 is out in the next few weeks according to phones4u where I was yesterday.

I got my first mobile on contract but never again it is better to buy an unlocked phone cash or with installments (is that what it is called when you pay once a month ?) which you do when buying on contract anyway but is not locked and the fees are lower.

one of the guys i know has just got an LG Leo, that seems to be pretty cool.  Though it looks a little bit like a retro voice recorder.
