More snow
on: January 05, 2010, 16:07:23 PM
It just started here, they said we might have a foot of it overnight. Proper snow  :w00t:
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

perhaps there will be more overnight, but I doubt it.

Ive seen more impressive snowfall from dandruff sufferers shaking their heads.

So far weve had sod all snow in the Bournemouth area, though just before chrimbo we had slush/ice on the roads from the rain that had frozen.

weve got proper blizzard conditions up here, I had to leave work abit early to make sure I could get home. Took some serious skill to get up the hills around here and avoid the abandoned cars.

Pretty bad here, probably had 3 - 4 inches on the ground this morning and about the same again fell this afternoon.

Am going to be one angry puppy if the snow stops me getting to my skiing lesson on Thursday  :hunf:

Well this will probably jynx me now and I wont be able to get out the front door tomorrow, but still no sign of snow down here in/near Bournemouth. It really is bizarre seeing all the snow reports on the news as this "no snow zone" is pretty local to the area. Of course every year you hear about some places where schools are closed, but this year it really does feel like being in the Valley in "Z for Zachariah" and instead of nuclear fallout its snow elsewhere.

Mind you, all this said and done, its not stopped some muppets every day making it into the papers by having massive pile ups because of the ice. If we get 30-50 car pile ups locally where there isnt snow on the dual carriageways, imagine what itll be like IF it snows. To be honest even if I could drive safely into work, I doubt I would. Even if I could make it to the car park I wouldnt be happy leaving my car in the car park as someone will drive into it at some point!

I drove 30miles west today & had to turn back as everyone was skidding. Nearly crashed after 3 of us overshot a roundabout but managed to get a curb assist to stop me by bouncing off & steering back into it 2 or 3 times. stopped about 2ft short from going smack into the side of a van & about the same from the one of the other cars that overshot the roundabout.

We were in a car park in the Lakes at the weekend and a new Cherokee or something along those lines nearly slid sideways into us - that was an experience seeing as there was almost nothing anyone could do about it at the time (cars in front and behind us and nowhere for him to go forward or back). Best option would definitely not have been stopping on the top of a steep hill side-on to the fall line :/
